A Weekend Full of Achievements
22 Sep 2025
It was another eventful weekend for the Marlins Swim Club, with swimmers taking part in several exciting competitions and development opportunities.
On Friday 19th September, seven brave swimmers tackled the 1500m freestyle race at The Hive in Ely. With grit, determination, and the enthusiastic support of a younger teammate cheering from the sidelines, all swimmers proudly completed the demanding distance.
The following day, Saturday 20th September, the Team Blue Army represented the club at the Senior Fenland League held at Manor Leisure Centre, Whittlesey. Competing against clubs from Ely, Huntingdon, Mildenhall, St Neots, and Wisbech, the team gave it their all and secured an impressive 2nd place overall.
Also on the 20th, Annie Gooch, Alice Camplin, and Hannah Camplin proudly represented their team at the SO Blackpool Polar Bears North West Regional Swimming Gala 2025.
Their commitment and training paid off in spectacular fashion, as all three athletes returned home with an impressive haul of medals. The trio were part of the relay team that clinched the gold medal, showcasing teamwork and determination.
Individually, Alice Camplin took home two gold medals in the 100m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle events. Hannah Camplin also delivered an outstanding performance, earning gold in both the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Freestyle.
Their achievements have made their team and coaches extremely proud—a testament to their dedication and passion for the sport.
To round off the weekend, on Sunday, 21st September, four swimmers took part in the Cambridgeshire County Development Camp at The Hive in Ely. The full-day programme focused on refining swimming technique, land training, and learning about essential topics such as nutrition and diet — key elements in the development of competitive swimmers.
Well done to all Marlins swimmers for an inspiring and action-packed weekend!
